欢迎 to Cal Lutheran!
I am so glad that you’re here and welcome your interest in California Lutheran University and the wide range of academic, social and career development opportunities our exceptional campus has to offer.
Our goal is to help students explore who they are, discover and expand their talents and interests, and incorporate those gifts into their lives and careers. We are interested in their intellectual and spiritual growth, and development of personal character and civic values as they become our world’s next leaders.
Our sunny Southern California location in Thousand Oaks, nationally ranked as one of the safest cities in the country, is halfway between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara near the Pacific Ocean and draws students and faculty from throughout the nation and the world. They come from many faiths and cultures to our scenic 225-acre campus of green hills, parks, oak trees, walking paths, and gardens. But they come for much more than the surroundings.
They come for the exceptional liberal arts and sciences education Cal Lutheran offers to undergraduates, graduates and professionals. They come for small class sizes that allow students to develop lifelong friendships with peers and mentoring relationships with renowned professors, supportive staff members, several pastors and a rabbi who are dedicated to providing the education, resources and support students need for life beyond college. They come for experiential and real-world learning opportunities Cal Lutheran offers through scientific research, fieldwork, internships, service learning, study abroad and career mentoring.
They come for Cal Lutheran’s modern, sustainable facilities from classroom buildings featuring the latest technology to amenity-filled residence halls that are home to more than half of the undergraduate student body.
They come for a full calendar of hundreds of activities, clubs, musical ensembles, events and athletics happening year-round, including 21 NCAA Division III intercollegiate teams—one of whom is the reigning national champion in women’s volleyball!
A big draw is our two-level comprehensive fitness complex that offers a full range of exercise equipment, workout classes, a 2,000 seat stadium, gyms, pools and fields.
These are just a few highlights that make Cal Lutheran a thriving institution that provides students with a memorable and meaningful college experience.
Many people over the years have worked hard to fulfill the vision of Richard Pederson who generously donated his ranch land in 1957 to launch a Lutheran institution of higher learning. That creativity, innovation and purpose remain part of Cal Lutheran and its people. We are an engaged community that inspires me to share it with others, but the best way to learn about Cal Lutheran is to see it for yourself whether it be as a student, professor, staff or audience member at a performance or game.
All of us at Cal Lutheran welcome the opportunity to meet you and show you firsthand how your life can be enriched by the many exciting programs and opportunities offered at our dynamic campus.
